Enterprise Remote Monitoring (ICAS & Distance Support), Tomorrow’s Vision Being Executed Everyday
ABSTRACT
The Integrated Condition Assessment System (ICAS) is installed on roughly one hundred hulls, ranging from submarines to aircraft carriers. Up until approximately eighteen months ago, ICAS was bound at a system level by the ship’s hull. However ICAS’ integration with Distance Support has enabled and promoted the ability to remotely monitor systems shore-side. Through the use of Maintenance Engineering Library System (MELS) and other information sharing tools, the Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs) routinely provide feedback to the ships on a bi-weekly basis via the Integrated Performance Analysis Report (IPAR). This paper will explore the background and progression of ICAS from a shipboard system to the centerpiece of the Navy’s remote monitoring efforts.
